Education – 13 Types of Graphs
Graphs and charts are used to for easy and precise presentation of complex data. Various types of these graphs and charts are used as per needs and each of them have their own importance.
One of the most common types of graphs is Line Graph in which the data is interpreted in a simple way through lines. The most important part of this graph for analyzing data is the dips and the shoot ups.

In Bar graphs, different columns that represent an entity is used for presentation of data. These types of graphs help to differentiate between the entities. In Pictographs the main purpose is to grab the attention rather than transferring the information. These graphs are visually appealing and can represent huge data.
When data in proportion needs to be represented than use of Pie Charts is made whereas Organizational Charts are used to relate the organization work force so as to provide a structure to them that will make the work flow simple. Flowcharts are used when one need to communicate the complex algorithm. Bubble chart is another form of chart that is used for 3 dimensional data representation.
Cosmographs are used depict the complex cosmic elements in action and thus these types of graphs were very popular in various religious cultures. The Area Graphs are like hybrid of line graphs and stacked bar graphs which are plotted for two and more entities.

When changing quantity at various intervals needs to represented then Waterfall Charts are used. These can be considered like a bar graph that is plotted in some different way. Stacked Column Chart which is also known as Stacked Bar Graph is used for data representation in the form of bars that are piled one above the other.
Besides these, other types of graphs are charts are Filled Line Graph and Natural Cubic Splines.
