Job Boards serves dual purpose as on one hand it helps the employers to make the positing about the available jobs with regards to its profile, number of vacancies and other details while on the other hand it helps the job seekers to apply for the job which is suitable as per their qualifications and skill sets. The job boards have been in existence since many years and their history and statistics is also very interesting.
The year from 1990 to 1994 can be considered as the beginning years of the job boards as the years witnessed events like listings of the job on usenet, launching of Dice, CareerMosiac, Monster and Online Career Center.

The initial steps were taken from 1995 to 1997 when during these years Craiglist was launched, Stepstone was launched and six newspapers put their listings online through careerpath. The big time in the history of job boards was from 1998 to 1999 when Monster runs the 1st superbowl ad, Jobsonline was rated as the number 1 job site and careerpath and headhunter.net was acquired by Careerbuilder.

The time period from 2000 to 2002 can be considered as period of recovery and growth while the industry matured from 2003 to 2007 when during this time period LinkedIn was launched, IAEWS job board was founded, Google Base was launched and Jobster signed the deal with facebook. The years from 2008 to 2012 can be considered as Modern Era of jobs board.
The statistics reveals that 1/3 of the members who have made the application of the jobs have been progressed to the next level in the hiring process and more than 50% have got at least one response.
